He completed Year 12 at Perth Modern School in Western Australia in 2016 and has just commenced his first year at Curtin University.

Josh Tanner.
Josh has worked in the film industry for over ten years, beginning in the editorial and camera departments on features and documentaries before making a transition into directing branded content and commercials for clients such as Hewlett Packard, Village Roadshow Theme Parks, Brisbane Festival, QUT and Commbank. Teaming with production company Perception Pictures, his first publicly exhibited short film THE FOAL (2010) went on to screen at 35+ festivals such as Palm Springs Shortfest, Brooklyn Film Festival, St Kilda, Short Film Festival and Whistler Film Festival. Next, Josh co-wrote and directed the 2014 ADG Awards nominated short film THE LANDING (2013), an ambitious period drama/Sci-Fi, which made its world premiere at the 46th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, where it won Best Short Film, qualifying it for the 2015 Academy Awards®. The film qualified again when it won Best Foreign Film at the 18th LA Shorts Fest, and has gone on to win over fifteen awards at international festivals such as Screamfest®, Beverly Hills, Cleveland and Rhode Island Film Festivals. After its run on the festival circuit, THE LANDING had a successful online release, gaining Vimeo Staff Picks and receiving 340,000 views to date. In 2016, Josh received funds through Screen Australia’s Hot Shots program to make WANDERING SOUL; a Vietnam War set supernatural horror executive produced by the Spierig Brothers (DAYBREAKERS, PREDESTINATION, WINCHESTER). The film was shot at Village Roadshow Studios and on location in the Gold Coast Hinterland, and began its run on the festival circuit in late 2016 with a world premiere at the Sitges
International Fantastic Film Festival and a win for Best Horror at the 2017 Hollyshorts Film Festival. The film has also earned Josh a 2017 ADG Awards nomination for Best Direction in a Short Film. In 2018, Josh was Kriv Stenders’ director’s attachment and splinter unit director on the Australian Vietnam War epic DANGER CLOSE and was chosen by Fox Digital and Hulu to helm THE RIZZLE, one of 8 horror short films in their Huluween Film Festival and in the same month released the supernatural thriller short REVERSE, which premiered on Short of the Week. He also recently wrote and directed short film Decommissioned. Taking place aboard the International Space Station, the production uses Unreal Engine to create a live action film set in space.
