    Born and raised in Nara prefecture, currently resides in Kyoto. Animation director. He self-tought digital animation when he was a student. After graduated from schools, he continue creating animation by himself. In 2021 he created “Takano Intersection” which he directed for the first time.

    Malice comes up abruptly. In the blnk of an eye. Suddenly on a whim like a flapping insect. One day a young hermit finds a winged insect and crushes it out of disgust. Meanwhile, the elephant sees the incident but says nothing. From that day on , the boy is chased by shadows of the winged insects.

    Having great interest in alienated world such as “shadow” or “death”, and through research in folk culture and legend of Asia, the director try to create common image through visual expression that can be shared and sympathized by any generation or race. Her work has been selected in numerous film festivals nationally and internationally, such as International 68th Short Film Festival Oberhausen.

    Marika Tamura is a visual development artist. Born in Japan, she decided to pursue a dream of working in the animation industry. She currently works at LAIKA as a prop designer during the day and freelance at night. She received a BFA from Ringling College of Art and Design with a major in Computer Animation in 2021.
