Seattle Asian American Film FestivalĀina Paikai is a native Hawaiian filmmaker that aims to amplify Pacific and indigenous voices in media. A Sundance Native Lab Fellow, Paikai wrote and acted in the award-winning short-film, Down on the Sidewalk in Waikīkī (2019) and has now taken the lead on Hawaiian Soul (2020) with writing, producing, and directing.

I’m self taught and learned how to make movies on set. I started a career as an Assistant Director. This enabled me to direct my first short film in 2015.
I’ve been wanting to do animation for a long time, and Twin Trees is my first fully animated short.
